🍃 Authentic Ceremonial Japanese Matcha Recipe (Usucha)
🧂 Ingredients
1–2 grams ceremonial-grade Japanese matcha (about ½–1 tsp)
60–70 ml hot water (70–80°C, not boiling)
🛠 Tools (recommended)
Chawan (matcha bowl)
Chasen (bamboo whisk)
Sifter (to remove clumps)
👣 Steps
Warm the bowl
Pour hot water into the bowl, swirl, then discard. Dry the bowl.
Sift the matcha
Sift matcha into the bowl to ensure a smooth, lump-free texture.
Add water
Pour 60–70 ml of hot water (70–80°C).
Whisk properly
Whisk quickly in a “W” or “M” motion (not circular) until a fine, creamy foam forms on top.
Enjoy immediately
Drink while warm to experience the full umami and natural sweetness.
